Udaipur, March 13: In light of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the Udaipur district administration is on high alert. Under the leadership of District Collector Namit Mehta, the administration is continuously monitoring activities in the region. On Thursday, Collector Mehta visited the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) LPG gas plant in Sakroda to assess the current demand and supply situation of gas.
During the visit, he observed the plant’s operations and gathered detailed information from officials regarding the distribution system, storage capacity, and supply management. Local BPCL officials informed the Collector that the supply of domestic cooking gas in the district is completely normal, ensuring adequate availability of cylinders according to consumer demand. They confirmed that the entire gas distribution process is being conducted in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), preventing any inconvenience to consumers.
While inspecting the gas plant, Collector Mehta also reviewed the storage arrangements, safety standards, and the cylinder filling process. He inquired about the SOPs being followed at the plant and instructed officials to strictly adhere to all safety and quality standards.
Additionally, the Collector sought information about the grievance redressal mechanism for the public. He emphasized the need for prompt and effective resolution of any complaints or issues related to gas supply, ensuring that consumers do not face difficulties.
Collector Mehta appealed to the public, stating that the supply of domestic cooking gas is entirely normal in the district. He urged residents not to succumb to rumors or panic. The administration and relevant agencies are consistently monitoring the supply system. Present during the inspection were District Supply Officer First and Trainee Srishti Dabas, Second DSO Manish Bhatnagar, along with other officials from the supply department.
Minimum 25-Day Interval Required for Gas Booking
The District Supply Officer announced that, under new guidelines, a minimum interval of 25 days is now required between gas bookings for domestic consumers. Therefore, consumers should only book gas cylinders after this period to avoid any inconvenience.
Supply to Essential Institutions Continues
He also mentioned that the supply of commercial gas cylinders has been regulated. However, essential services such as hospitals, hostels, educational institutions, and mid-day meal programs will continue to receive gas supplies as before to ensure that these services are not disrupted.
Sufficient Gas Stock Available in the District
The DSO confirmed that all three oil companies—HPCL, BPCL, and IOCL—currently have adequate stocks of domestic gas cylinders in the district. He urged the public not to pay attention to any rumors regarding gas shortages.
