Udaipur, March 25: In a bid to protect consumer interests and ensure business transparency, the Consumer Affairs Department has taken action against Lakhdatar Trading Company for operating without a packing license. This initiative was directed by Food Minister Sumit Godara.
During an inspection, officials found that the company did not possess the required packing license. Additionally, the weighing instruments in use were not verified. As a result, the firm was fined ₹7,000 under the Legal Metrology Act of 2009 and the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules of 2011.
In a related inspection, Singhi Oil Industries located in Bedla was also evaluated. Here, both the packing license and net content were found to be in compliance. Legal Metrology Officer Rakesh Maheshwari emphasized the importance of obtaining a packaging license, marking essential information on packaging, and ensuring verification of weighing units. Inspections will continue as part of the department’s efforts to safeguard consumer interests.
