Jaipur, April 6: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has raised serious concerns regarding the central government’s foreign policy, emphasizing the need for introspection about India’s international image. He stated that the current direction of India’s foreign policy is unclear and alarming.
While addressing a peace gathering marking the end of the Dandi March, Gehlot condemned remarks made by former U.S. President Donald Trump about Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling them highly objectionable. He stressed that regardless of differing political ideologies, the Prime Minister represents the nation, and any disrespect towards him cannot be tolerated. Gehlot pointed out that if a foreign leader claims they can end the political career of India’s Prime Minister, it is a matter of grave concern that the country cannot ignore.
Gehlot also addressed the youth, urging them to discern right from wrong and respond accordingly. He remarked that remaining silent about the ongoing events in the country is not appropriate. If citizens do not speak out against wrongdoings, the entire nation will suffer the consequences. He referenced Rahul Gandhi’s calls to defend the Constitution, asserting that there are solid reasons behind such appeals and that serious contemplation about the state of democracy is essential.
Furthermore, he noted that democracy in the country is facing significant challenges, which should concern all citizens. Gehlot encouraged the youth to understand both national and global situations, reflect on them, and prepare to tackle upcoming challenges.
