BJP Leader Madhan Rathore Criticizes Former CM Ashok Gehlot Over Pakistan Allegations

Jaipur, April 9: Rajasthan BJP President Madhan Rathore has launched a sharp attack on former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, labeling him a “Pakistan supporter.” This statement follows Gehlot’s remarks regarding Pakistan’s role in the context of U.S.-Iran tensions and his criticism of the External Affairs Minister’s statements. Rathore has strongly condemned Gehlot’s stance, questioning his patriotism.

Speaking to the media at the state BJP office, Rathore expressed disappointment that a former chief minister would make such statements. He stated that Gehlot’s objections to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s comments indicate that his sympathies lie more with Pakistan than with India. Rathore emphasized that the opposition is also expected to provide responsible and balanced statements in the interest of the nation.

Rathore further noted that the External Affairs Minister had clarified that India would not play the role of a “broker nation” concerning Pakistan’s mediation. He deemed Gehlot’s demand for an apology as inappropriate and questioned whose interests Gehlot is advocating—those of India or Pakistan.

Additionally, Rathore criticized the Congress party regarding the Pachpadra (Balotra) refinery project. He accused Congress of neglecting Rajasthan’s interests during its tenure and making hasty decisions that harmed the state. Rathore pointed out that the BJP government had modified the project conditions in 2017 to bring it to fruition, while no substantial progress was made during the five years of the Congress government. He also criticized Congress for its handling of water supply issues for the refinery.

Rathore stated that Congress had agreed to use potable water for the refinery, whereas the current government plans to treat and use wastewater from Pali, Balotra, and Jodhpur for the refinery. He described this as a step towards better resource utilization and in the public interest. Rathore concluded that the government should prioritize development and public service, a focus that was lacking during Congress’s tenure.
