Jaipur, April 20: The political landscape in Rajasthan is heating up as former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot addresses multiple issues in a media interaction at his residence. He targeted the BJP, responding to former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje‘s recent statements, asserting that she does not need to clarify her position, as the public understands her sentiments and context well.
Gehlot also questioned the working style of BJP state president Madan Rathore, indirectly revealing the internal conflicts within the BJP. He remarked that it is inappropriate for a state president to repeatedly declare who will become the Chief Minister. Such significant decisions should be made at the top leadership level, involving figures like the Prime Minister or central command.
In a pointed attack, Gehlot noted that the party that once accused Congress of internal discord is now grappling with its own internal disputes. According to him, various BJP leaders are making conflicting statements, further weakening the party’s position, which is now becoming evident publicly.
He highlighted a lack of “control” within the BJP organization, suggesting that when pressure mounts from the top, leaders begin to issue inconsistent statements. While he acknowledged Madan Rathore as a good person, he raised concerns about his effectiveness in organizational leadership. Gehlot emphasized that such political instability is detrimental to Rajasthan’s development and democratic integrity.
Regarding his comments on international matters, Gehlot clarified that his intention was to express concern over India’s global image. He stated that it is troubling when peace initiatives come from other countries, like Pakistan, during global conflicts, as India has long been recognized as a symbol of non-violence and peace. He asserted that India should have established itself as a “Vishwaguru” and lead global peace efforts.
Gehlot expressed confidence that the Congress party remains united in Rajasthan and, in line with the state’s tradition, the next government will be formed by Congress. His statements have once again stirred political activity in the state.
