Chittorgarh, April 19:
In compliance with state government directives, a two-day special pipeline leakage and hand pump repair campaign was conducted on April 18 and 19. The Public Health Engineering Department undertook extensive actions across the district. A total of 56 villages in 11 subdivisions were identified for urgent repairs of pipeline leaks and hand pumps.
During this campaign, the District Collector, Chief Executive Officer of the District Council, Additional District Collector, and all subdivision officers, along with Tehsildars and PHED staff, visited the relevant villages on Saturday and Sunday to inspect the ground-level operations. The officials assessed the arrangements on-site, ensuring quality work and uninterrupted drinking water supply for the public.
The inspection also reviewed ongoing projects under the Summer Contingency Plan, the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), and the Amrit 2.0 scheme. The District Collector instructed all concerned officials to ensure no delays in drinking water supply during the hot season and to address complaints promptly.
As part of the campaign, the District Collector inspected the 15 MLD capacity water treatment plant located in Chittorgarh city. During the inspection, the functioning of the plant, the water purification process, and the distribution system were closely observed, and necessary directives were issued.
Additionally, following complaints from consumers regarding irregular drinking water supply in the Segwa Housing Board C-Block area, the District Collector took serious note and directed the issuance of a charge sheet against the concerned Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer for negligence. He emphasized that any laxity in providing essential services like drinking water would not be tolerated.
The District Collector instructed all officials to conduct regular field monitoring to ensure quick resolution of issues, preventing any inconvenience to the public. The actions taken during this campaign are expected to improve the drinking water supply system in the district, providing significant relief to residents.
