Jaipur, August 16: The Jaipur City District Congress Committee organized a ‘Save Jaipur March’ on Sunday in the Pink City. The march commenced from Sanjay Circle, Chandpole, and proceeded through major city roads to reach Badi Chaupar.
The event saw participation from prominent Congress leaders, including City District President Sunil Sharma, former minister Pratap Singh Khachariyawas, MLA Rafiq Khan, Amin Kagzi, Archana Sharma, R.R. Tiwari, and Pushpendra Bhardwaj, along with a large number of party workers.
Congress activists protested against the state government and municipal administration, highlighting issues related to roads, water supply, electricity, traffic, footpaths, and encroachments in Jaipur.
Congress Protests Over Basic Infrastructure Issues
Sunil Sharma led the march, asserting that the fundamental infrastructure of Jaipur, a city of historical and tourism significance, is deteriorating. Congress leaders claimed that many areas, including the Pink City, suffer from poor roads, disrupted traffic systems, and public inconvenience due to encroachments.
‘Poor Conditions Despite Jaipur’s Heritage’
R.R. Tiwari emphasized Jaipur’s rich 300-year history, recognized by UNESCO. He noted that despite attracting numerous tourists from around the world, the city’s infrastructure remains unsatisfactory. He pointed out ongoing issues with roads, electricity, and water supply, as well as persistent traffic problems.
‘While CM Flies to Delhi, Where Do Common People Go?’
Tiwari criticized the state government, stating that areas like Badi Chaupar frequently experience traffic jams. He remarked, “The Chief Minister flies to Delhi by helicopter, but where can the common man go?” He also highlighted encroachments on footpaths and increasing obstructions on roads, leaving little space for pedestrians.
Concerns Over Potholes and Encroachments
Congress leaders raised concerns about potholes on various roads in Jaipur and inadequate lighting in many areas at night. They questioned why a city with a rich historical and cultural identity is being left in such a state.
Chanting Against Government and Municipal Corporation
During the march, Congress workers chanted slogans against the state government and municipal administration. They demanded immediate and concrete action to address the city’s pressing issues. The Congress party insists that, considering Jaipur’s heritage, tourism, and the convenience of its citizens, problems related to roads, traffic, cleanliness, encroachments, electricity, and water supply should be prioritized for resolution.
