Alwar, October 12: The Congress party convened an organizational meeting in Alwar to prepare for the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections. The meeting took place just before the final nomination date of October 13. Vaibhav Gehlot, the party’s district observer, attended the meeting, having been appointed to this role earlier this month.
The gathering included prominent leaders such as Bhawar Jitendra Singh, National General Secretary of Congress; Tikaram Julie, Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Assembly; Chiranjeev Rao, AICC Secretary and Co-in-Charge of Rajasthan; Bharatpur MP Sanjana Jatav; and former RTDC Chairman Dharmendra Rathore, along with local party officials.
Nomination Window Closing Soon
According to the State Election Commission‘s schedule, the public notice for district council member nominations was issued on October 8, with nominations open until October 13. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until October 15. The nomination process for Panch and Sarpanch positions occurs separately and is conducted a day before the elections. Due to the Dhanteras festival, the dates for the first three phases were shifted one day earlier.
Results will be announced in two phases. The results for Sarpanch positions will start coming in from October 24, while the counting for district council and Panchayat committee members will take place simultaneously across all districts on November 20. This means candidates whose nomination window closes on October 13 will have to wait 38 days for their results.
Key Dates:
– Public notice for district council members: October 8
– Final nomination date: October 13 (Tuesday)
– Withdrawal of nominations: Until October 15 (Thursday)
– Sarpanch results: From October 24
– Counting for district council and Panchayat committee members: November 20 (Friday)
Candidates should note that each position has a separate nomination window. The nomination window for district council and Panchayat committee members opened earlier and will close on October 13. In contrast, nominations for Panch and Sarpanch positions are taken a day before voting, with the first phase scheduled for October 23. Thus, these candidates have relatively more time.
It is crucial to verify age, inclusion in the voter list, and other eligibility criteria before nomination, as these are the common reasons for disqualification.
Who Attended the Meeting
The leaders present at the meeting and their responsibilities in this election are as follows:
| Position | Name | Responsibility |

Significance of the Meeting for Alwar Congress
Alwar is the home district of Leader of the Opposition Tikaram Julie, who is also the MLA from Alwar Rural. Bhawar Jitendra Singh has been active in Alwar politics for a long time. The party appointed Vaibhav Gehlot as an observer for this district, while Dharmendra Rathore oversees the newly formed Khairthal-Tijara district. This meeting brought together observers for both the district and the newly created area.
Election Scope Significantly Larger
These Panchayati Raj elections will cover approximately 155,000 positions, compared to the 10,245 positions in the urban local body elections held earlier this year. This represents an increase of 144,755 positions, making the scope about 15.1 times larger. In light of this scale, Congress has deployed observers across all 41 districts in the state, assigning this responsibility to 35 leaders, including 12 elected representatives, comprising 5 MPs and 7 MLAs.
