Jaipur, June 25: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has openly supported Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasra amidst ongoing political tensions with Agriculture Minister Dr. Kirori Lal Meena. Gehlot labeled the allegations against Dotasra as completely false, asserting that such unfounded claims are not in line with healthy political traditions.
In a statement on the social media platform X, Gehlot pointed out that Dr. Kirori Lal Meena has consistently accused Congress leaders both before and during his tenure as a minister, yet none of these allegations have been substantiated. He emphasized that the BJP government has been in power for two and a half years, but Meena’s accusations have proven to be baseless.
Gehlot further remarked that now that allegations have surfaced against Meena himself, he appears agitated and claims that the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) is targeting him under pressure from the Chief Minister. Gehlot stated that in this scenario, Meena has been fully exposed to the public.
He accused Meena of making false allegations against Dotasra to divert attention from his own troubles. According to Gehlot, this behavior reflects Meena’s desperation. He asserted that the public is watching, and the era of politics based on lies is coming to an end.
Following Gehlot’s statements, several Congress leaders have rallied in support of Dotasra. They expressed that the unfounded allegations against the state president have caused discontent among party workers and leaders. The party believes that political accusations should be based on facts and evidence.
During a media interaction in Jodhpur, Gehlot reiterated his stance against false allegations in politics. He stated that if anyone possesses facts, they should present them. He noted that Meena has made accusations even when he was not in the government and continues to do so as a minister.
Gehlot emphasized the importance of a political party president’s reputation, stating that repeated unfounded accusations naturally provoke reactions within the party. He mentioned that Dotasra is also questioning why such baseless allegations are being made against him. Gehlot urged Meena to reflect on this matter.
The ongoing exchange of accusations between Dotasra and Meena appears to be escalating into a significant political controversy between Congress and the BJP in Rajasthan. Gehlot’s remarks have intensified the issue, and further responses from leaders of both parties are anticipated in the coming days.
