Hamirpur, May 14:
In a decisive move to protect students, the district administration of Hamirpur has launched a special campaign against the sale of tobacco and cigarettes near schools. Following the directives of District Magistrate Abhishek Goyal, inspections were carried out to enforce this crucial regulation.
During the inspection, a total of 21 shops were checked. Authorities found violations in 9 of these establishments, including the absence of required price declarations and sales above the Maximum Retail Price (MRP). Consequently, fines of ₹5,000 each were imposed, totaling ₹45,000 under various sections of the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.

Shopkeepers were instructed to strictly adhere to regulations prohibiting the sale of tobacco, cigarettes, and other harmful substances within a 500-meter radius of schools and colleges. The administration made it clear that any violations would result in severe penalties.
Ongoing Campaign for Youth Protection
