BJP Workers Clash with Police During Protest Against Congress in Jaipur

Jaipur, July 22: In a significant political showdown, BJP workers led by state president Madan Rathore attempted to encircle the Congress office in Jaipur on Wednesday, protesting against a demonstration by Congress leaders outside the Prime Minister’s residence. The police intervened by setting up barricades at the Chaumun House Circle to halt the advancing BJP activists. This protest was part of a nationwide call by the BJP in response to Congress’s actions.

Despite the barricades, clashes broke out between the BJP workers and the police. Many activists climbed the barricades, determined to reach the Congress office. To control the situation, the police deployed water cannons, spraying water to disperse the crowd.

Madan Rathore, who was drenched by the water cannon, continued to rally his supporters, urging them to push forward. Police officers were seen trying to remove activists from the barricades while advising them to retreat.

This protest was organized in response to a demonstration by Congress leaders outside the Prime Minister’s residence in Delhi, where several opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, were detained by police.

After the demonstration, Rathore launched a fierce attack on Congress and Rahul Gandhi, accusing them of violating democratic norms and security protocols by protesting outside the Prime Minister’s residence. He claimed that Gandhi’s actions had “stained” the country’s history. Rathore also made a pointed remark about Gandhi’s age, suggesting that BJP workers were marching towards the Congress office to issue a warning.

Rathore further made controversial statements regarding the protesters at Jantar Mantar, alleging that they were not students but trained stone-pelters receiving foreign funding. He claimed that none of the hospitalized protesters were students, although these allegations remain unverified by independent sources.

Traffic was severely affected at Government Hostel Circle and surrounding areas due to the BJP protest, police barricading, and the large number of activists present. Long queues of vehicles formed on the roads. Police teams worked to manage traffic and redirect vehicles to alternate routes. Gradually, traffic returned to normal after the protest concluded and the activists dispersed.

The simultaneous marches by Congress and BJP towards each other’s offices intensified the political confrontation in the state, necessitating police intervention with barricades and water cannons.
