Jaipur, July 8: BJP state president Madan Rathore has responded to former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and Congress leaders regarding their statements about the Ram Temple. Rathore stated that those who have never had faith in Lord Ram or supported the construction of the Ram Temple are now questioning its management.
Rathore emphasized that the Ram Temple is a center of faith for millions. He noted that the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has clarified that all temple properties and donations are secure. The trust has also publicly displayed these assets. He asserted that if any individual is found guilty of irregularities, the law will take its course, and the guilty will be punished. However, he believes unnecessary political interference in such matters is inappropriate.
The BJP president pointed out that Ashok Gehlot has served as Chief Minister three times and should focus on his party’s issues. Rathore accused Gehlot of making baseless statements instead of addressing pressing matters like water, electricity, paper leaks, administrative chaos, and internal conflicts within the government.
Rathore stated that those who have shown faith and support for the Ram Temple have the moral right to ask questions. In contrast, those who opposed its construction are merely making such allegations for political gain. He believes the public understands this political maneuvering well.
He also defended former trustee Champat Rai, asserting that there are no questions regarding his integrity. If any lower-level individual is found guilty, they will be punished according to the law. The BJP respects the faith of millions of Ram devotees and will not tolerate attempts to politicize this faith.
Regarding local body elections, Rathore mentioned that the BJP is fully prepared to accept any decision made by the Election Commission. He stated that the party is organizationally ready and can contest elections even if announced today.
Rathore noted that the OBC Commission’s report is reaching the Election Commission, but the Congress is trying to incite the OBC community on this issue. He claimed that the BJP has won 62 out of 78 by-elections and has also achieved success in most local body elections. Thus, he dismissed Congress’s claims of the BJP being a party afraid of elections as completely baseless.
He added that the state government is ready to conduct elections, and the decision now lies with the Election Commission. Once the elections are announced, the BJP will fully comply with its directives.
On the issue of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC), Rathore criticized the opposition for merely criticizing and finding faults. He mentioned that the BJP has prepared a draft for the UCC and is studying experiences from states where it has been implemented to tailor it to Rajasthan’s context.
Rathore stated that suggestions are being sought from various groups, and the opposition can also provide their input. He assured that this topic will come up in the assembly, where the opposition can voice their opinions.
