Chief Minister Launches Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy Campaign in Kota

Kota, October 31: Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma inaugurated the BJP’s “Save Democracy, Remove Anarchy” campaign in Kota on Friday. After addressing the rally, he actively participated in the march. Sharma criticized those who have historically undermined democracy, stating that they now hypocritically champion democratic values. Regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, he urged anyone with objections to present solid evidence to the competent authorities and the court.

Ensuring Voter List Integrity

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of the voter list for a healthy democratic process. He insisted that the rights of genuine voters must be protected and that ineligible names should be scrutinized according to regulations. He noted that the Election Commission has responded to allegations related to the SIR in a counter-affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court, clarifying that the major orders concerning the SIR were unanimously approved and that the authority to add or remove names from the voter list lies with the electoral registration officer.

Critique of Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot

In a direct attack on former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Sharma remarked that during the power struggle in Rajasthan, Congress was confined to hotels for four months. He accused Gehlot’s administration of taking two years to conduct local body elections, which were marred by frequent imposition of the model code of conduct. He challenged Congress members who doubted the feasibility of “One State, One Election,” asserting that elections have indeed been conducted successfully.

Congress’s Double Standards on Democracy

Sharma criticized Congress for its contradictory stance on democracy, claiming that they only deem it strong when electoral results favor them. He recalled the Emergency imposed in 1975, which he argued suppressed democratic rights and trampled constitutional norms, causing immense suffering to many democratic activists and their families. He questioned whether the Emergency was not imposed for personal gain and pointed out Congress’s history of dismissing state governments while in power.

The Chief Minister also condemned Congress for questioning the integrity of institutions such as the army, Election Commission, Supreme Court, CBI, and ED, thereby undermining national pride. He hinted at the absence of Congress leaders in the country, suggesting they spend more time abroad than at home.

Zero Tolerance for Corruption

Sharma stated that the government is committed to a zero-tolerance policy against corruption. To date, over 265 officials and employees have been suspended, and disciplinary actions have been initiated against nearly 700 individuals. He mentioned that several pensions have been halted, and actions to remove personnel from service have been taken. He echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s stance of not tolerating corruption.

The Chief Minister concluded by asserting that every BJP worker is dedicated to serving the public year-round. He urged party members to counter the chaos Congress is allegedly spreading in democracy by engaging with the public. He challenged Congress to account for its governance instead of spreading confusion in the name of democracy, predicting that it would face significant setbacks in other states as well.

The march was attended by BJP state president Madan Rathore, Education Minister Madan Dilawar, Energy Minister Heeralal Nagar, and numerous party officials and workers.
