Bengaluru, April 11 Delhi Capitals powered to a convincing 6-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, thanks to a sensational unbeaten partnership between KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs. Chasing a target of 164, the Capitals reached the mark in just 17.5 overs despite an early batting collapse.

Rahul, Stubbs Lead Spectacular Recovery
After a shaky start that saw Delhi reduced to 58/4, the experienced KL Rahul and the explosive Tristan Stubbs orchestrated a remarkable turnaround. Their unbroken 111-run stand for the fifth wicket not only stabilized the innings but shifted the momentum completely in Delhi’s favor.
KL Rahul played a captain’s knock, scoring an unbeaten 93 off just 53 balls. His innings included seven boundaries and six maximums. Stubbs offered sturdy support with a calm 38* off 34 deliveries, punctuated by four fours and a six.
RCB Falters After Strong Start
RCB, after being put into bat, got off to a flying start, racing past 60 runs in the powerplay. Opener Phil Salt was particularly aggressive, smashing 37 off 17 before being run out at 61. However, wickets tumbled in quick succession, disrupting the momentum.
Notable contributions came from Virat Kohli (22), Rajat Patidar (25), and Tim David, who added a vital late flourish with a 37-run cameo from 20 deliveries. But a disciplined Delhi bowling attack restricted RCB to 163/7 by the end of their 20 overs.
Bowlers Shine for Delhi
Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam were the standout performers with the ball, each taking two wickets. Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma chipped in with a wicket apiece, ensuring regular breakthroughs and preventing RCB from building lasting partnerships.
Delhi’s sharp fielding and well-planned bowling changes played a crucial role in containing the Bengaluru lineup and setting up the chase.
IPL 2025 Playoff Implications
This victory boosts Delhi Capitals’ playoff hopes as they gain momentum in the business end of the tournament. RCB, on the other hand, will need to regroup quickly to stay in contention.
As the league stage heats up, both sides have plenty to play for, with net run rate and head-to-head records becoming increasingly significant.
