Jaipur, July 14: The opposition leader, Tikaram Julie, has described the ongoing “Kisan Hunkar” movement against smart meters in Bundi as not just a local protest but a collective voice of farmers and the general public across Rajasthan. He criticized the BJP government for imposing financial burdens on citizens under the guise of smart meters.
Julie accused power companies of adopting arbitrary and dictatorial practices. He pointed out that despite an agreement to halt the installation of smart meters in Bundi, these companies continue to disregard administrative orders.
The opposition leader urged Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma to take immediate action in this matter and ensure compliance with administrative directives. He emphasized the need for the government to issue clear instructions to curb the arbitrary actions of the electricity department and companies.
Julie affirmed that the fight for farmers’ rights in Bundi is being pursued vigorously. He expressed gratitude towards Congress workers in Hindoli-Bundi, including MLA Ashok Chandna and C.L. Premi, for their contributions.
He condemned the alleged actions taken by police against activists and the cases filed against them. Julie stated that any attempt to suppress the voices of farmers and the general public will not be tolerated.
The opposition leader reiterated that Congress stands with farmers against the additional burdens imposed by smart meters and the arbitrary practices of power companies. He called for the government to respect public sentiments and find an immediate resolution.
