Rahul Gandhis Diwali Gathering Targets BJP Amidst Political Tensions

New Delhi, November 7: Rahul Gandhi’s residence hosted a Diwali gathering on Friday, which served as a platform for Congress leaders to criticize the BJP. This marked the first Diwali party organized by Gandhi. During the event, Congress leaders addressed various issues, including the BJP’s protests, the ongoing SIR process for voter lists, and the rising pollution levels in Delhi-NCR. Notable attendees included former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra, and opposition leader Tikaram Julie.
The event was exclusive to Congress leaders, featuring Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states, former Chief Ministers, members of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), and many senior leaders. Previously, on October 13, Rahul Gandhi had invited leaders from the INDIA bloc for tea.
Gehlot raised questions about the BJP’s recent protests, stating, “For the first time in 80 years, we are witnessing a role reversal. Instead of the opposition, the ruling party is chanting ‘Save Democracy’ and ‘End Anarchy’.”
Congress leader Pawan Khera expressed serious concerns regarding the ongoing SIR process for voter lists, alleging it could disenfranchise citizens. He remarked, “If you are not recognized as an Indian citizen, what remains for you?”
Udit Raj directly blamed the government for the smog and pollution enveloping NCR, stating, “When the BJP was not in power, they placed all responsibilities on the opposition. Now, with control over the central and state governments, the lieutenant governor’s administration, and local bodies, the responsibility lies with them.”
During the gathering, Sachin Pilot was seen interacting with Rahul Gandhi and was also accompanied by Priyanka Gandhi, Robert Vadra, and their family. The presence of both Gehlot and Pilot at the same event comes at a time of heightened political rhetoric between Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma and Gehlot in Rajasthan.
