Udaipur, March 14: The rich folk culture and traditions of Rajasthan are captivating artists from across the globe. In this spirit, renowned French artist Anna Laure Poulain participated in a traditional Dashamata Puja in Harsh Nagar, Udaipur, on Friday.
Accompanied by Vijayalakshmi Ameta, the director of the Heritage Folk Dance and Puppet Show, Anna visited a nearby temple. Demonstrating her deep interest in Indian culture, she rose early at 5 AM, dressed in traditional attire. With a prayer plate in hand, she circled a Peepal tree and listened to the tales of Dashamata, praying for the prosperity and well-being of her family.
Devotion Displayed on Sheetala Saptami
Anna’s eagerness to understand Indian festivals led her to participate in Sheetala Saptami earlier. She not only learned about the rituals but also explored the significance of the traditional cold meal (Basyoda) associated with the day. Vijayalakshmi Ameta noted that the dedication of foreign artists to our culture and customs highlights the global impact of Mewar’s heritage. Anna’s traditional attire and engagement in local customs have become a topic of discussion in the region.
