Jaipur, May 28: A significant resolution emerged late Wednesday night regarding the Bhairana Dham dispute, which has become a focal point in Rajasthan’s political landscape. Following protests by saints and an announcement by Nagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal to march to Jaipur, the government has agreed to halt ongoing work in the RECO area. Consequently, the planned march to Jaipur has been temporarily postponed.
During an announcement at the protest site, Beniwal stated that the government has consented to the issue and orders to stop the work are being issued today. He revealed that the RECO project, which spans approximately 800 bighas, will now be halted, and no further construction or development activities will take place.
Beniwal also mentioned that a five-member committee will be formed, comprising saints, administrative officials, and public representatives, to resolve the matter. This committee will study all aspects related to the environment, religion, and tourism, and prepare a report. The first meeting of the committee will be held within the next ten days.
He added that further actions regarding the RECO case will only proceed with the consent of the saints after the committee’s report is submitted. The entire process may take approximately 15 to 20 days. Additionally, a meeting between the saint community and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma will also be arranged.
Following this decision, the tension between the protesters and the administration appears to have eased for now. The agreement was reached after a day-long protest and discussions that extended late into the night. The administration has also breathed a sigh of relief, as a large gathering of supporters marching to Jaipur could have posed significant law and order challenges.
There has been longstanding discontent among saints and villagers regarding the allocation of the RECO area near Bhairana Dham. Protesters argue that this project would disrupt the religious and environmental balance. With the government’s decision to halt the work, the protest has been temporarily suspended.
