Ajmer, May 26: The Congress party staged a significant protest at the district collectorate on Monday, addressing the rising prices of petrol, diesel, and cooking gas, as well as the ongoing water crisis in Ajmer. This demonstration was organized under the guidance of Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee President Govind Singh Dotasra.
During the protest, Congress workers marched from Jyotiba Circle to Ambedkar Circle, chanting slogans against the BJP government. The event was led by former Chairman of the Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation, Dharmendra Rathore, and former MLA Dr. Shrigopal Baheti. Following the rally, a memorandum was submitted to the district collector, Lokbandhu, addressed to the Governor.
The memorandum specifically highlighted the severe water crisis in Ajmer, noting that many areas receive water supply only every four to five days and at low pressure. Congress leaders warned that if the issue is not resolved within a week, they will escalate their protests. The district collector assured prompt action on the matter.
Ajmer North Block Congress President and former councilor Shailendra Agarwal, along with Wahid Mohammad, stated that the memorandum also raised concerns about the nationwide increase in inflation, the continuous rise in fuel and cooking gas prices, and the decline in electricity and water supply, which they described as serious issues for the public. They accused the government of engaging in superficial politics rather than addressing the people’s problems. Additionally, they demanded strict action against those responsible for the NEET exam paper leak, which they claimed jeopardizes the future of youth and students.
Despite the intense heat, Congress leaders reported that Ajmer residents are receiving water supply for only 30 minutes at low pressure, even though Bisalpur Dam and Foy Sagar Lake are fully filled. They called on the Governor to direct the government to resolve these pressing issues.
The protest saw participation from numerous Congress leaders, including Fakhr-e-Moin, Naurat Gujjar, Kamal Verma, Arif Hussain, Sarvesh Pariak, Hemant Jodha, Nitin Jain, Bhavani Dhabai, Junaid Pathan, and Arif Khan, along with a large number of Congress workers and local citizens.
