National Wall Painting and Mandana Workshop Concludes in Udaipur

Udaipur, March 17: The five-day National Wall Painting and Mandana Workshop, organized by the Manikya Lal Verma Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRI) at the Cultural Resources and Training Center (CCRT), concluded on March 17, 2026. The event was graced by the presence of the Divisional Commissioner, Ms. Pragya Kevalramani, as the chief guest.

In her address, Ms. Kevalramani encouraged artists to keep their art alive. She noted that wall paintings are recognized by various names and styles across different states, yet their core essence reflects tribal life. During the event, she also distributed participation certificates to the artists.

TRI Director O.P. Jain, while presiding over the program, highlighted the significance of such workshops in preserving tribal arts. He praised the artworks created by the artists, describing the wall paintings as mirrors of tribal life and nature. Statistics Director Sudhir Dave presented a report on the workshop, revealing that 41 artists and liaison officers from Odisha, Tripura, Kerala, Maharashtra, Goa, and Rajasthan participated, producing over 90 timeless artworks. He expressed gratitude to the participating artists, declaring the workshop a success. The workshop was conducted by lecturer Mr. Harshavardhan Singh Solanki.

Additionally, a seven-day state-level mask-making workshop organized by the institute will conclude on March 18, 2026, at the CCRT premises, under the auspices of Mr. Laik Hussain, Director of the Indian Folk Art Mandal, Udaipur.

On March 16, 2026, during the Rajasthan Tribal Pride Day celebrations at Beneshwar Dham, the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Mr. Bhajan Lal Sharma, praised tribal artworks. He instructed that these artworks and the wooden art pieces created during the mask-making workshop be displayed at an exhibition in Bikaner House, New Delhi, on the occasion of Rajasthan Day. In compliance with this directive, two artists, led by the institute’s Assistant Director Banwari Lal Bumbaria, have traveled to New Delhi for the exhibition, which will showcase tribal artworks starting March 18.
