Nitish Kumars Alliance with BJP Criticized by Hussain Dalwai

Mumbai, March 6: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar‘s unexpected decision to join the Rajya Sabha has sparked intense debate in political circles. What prompted him to leave Bihar for Delhi? Senior Congress leader Hussain Dalwai from Maharashtra claims that if Nitish Kumar had not allied with the BJP, he would not be facing the current situation.

NDA leaders assert that the decision to join the Rajya Sabha was entirely Nitish Kumar’s. In contrast, the opposition accuses the BJP of exerting pressure.

In a conversation in Mumbai, Congress leader Hussain Dalwai stated that Nitish Kumar’s alliance with the BJP was a misguided choice, leading to adverse consequences. Bihar has traditionally been a bastion of socialist ideas. The BJP’s governance will weaken the Janata Dal (United).

Dalwai suggested that it would have been better for Nitish Kumar to collaborate with Lalu Prasad Yadav and his son Tejashwi Yadav to form a government, rather than aligning with the BJP.

Regarding the recent changes in governors across several states, Dalwai remarked that a governor should not belong to any political party and must operate impartially. However, he criticized the current governors for intervening in states governed by opposition parties, imposing their ideologies, which he deemed inappropriate. Governors should consider the realities of their states when making decisions. The central government is using governors to extend its political influence everywhere.

On the Maharashtra cabinet’s approval of the anti-conversion bill, Dalwai expressed that it is wrong for the government to dictate personal matters such as marriage. Young couples should decide for themselves without needing to convert. He pointed out that many Muslim women marry Hindus, and it is not solely Hindu women who marry Muslims. The pressure from the government in this regard is highly inappropriate.
