Until now, the process of receiving a physical voter card could take over a month. With this new streamlined system, the entire journey of your Voter ID — from processing to delivery — will be tracked in real time through the postal department.

Voters will also receive step-by-step updates via SMS, allowing them to know exactly where their voter card is at any given moment. This move is expected to bring greater transparency and convenience to the electoral system.

How to Apply for a New Voter ID Card

The Election Commission of INDIA has made it easy to apply for a Voter ID card online through the Voter Helpline App, available on both Android and iOS platforms. Here’s how you can apply:

1. Download the Voter Helpline App from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

2. Open the app and select the Voter Registration option.

3. Fill in the required details such as name, address, mobile number, and Aadhaar card information.

4. Submit your application through the app.

5. After submission, a Booth Level Officer (BLO) will verify your details.

6. Once verified, your new Voter ID card will be processed and dispatched to your home within 15 days.

How to Correct Errors in an Existing Voter ID

The same app can also be used to correct any inaccuracies in an existing Voter ID card. Follow these steps:

1. Open the Voter Helpline App.

2. Navigate to the Complaint and Registration section.

3. Fill in the necessary correction details.

4. Submit your request.

5. After verification, your updated Voter ID card will be delivered to your home within 15 days.
