JAIPUR, April 25, 2025 — RAJASTHAN continues to reel under intense heat as heatwave conditions gripped six districts on Thursday. The highest temperature was recorded in Barmer at 44.8°C, followed closely by Jaisalmer, Sri Ganganagar, Kota, Tonk, and Pilani (Jhunjhunu), all crossing the 43°C mark.

The INDIA Meteorological Department (IMD) has now issued a thunderstorm and light rain alert for eastern Rajasthan starting April 26 evening, predicting wind speeds of up to 50 km/h.
Western Rajasthan Scorches, Relief Expected From April 26
With dry westerly winds dominating, the mercury surged across the state. Jaipur, Udaipur, and Ajmer also reported a notable rise in day and night temperatures.
According to meteorological experts, temperatures may rise by another 2°C over the next 48 hours. However, the arrival of a Western Disturbance on April 26 is expected to activate storm systems in the Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions, affecting at least six districts with cloud cover, gusty winds, and isolated showers.
Humidity Drops Below 10% in Most Cities
As of 11 AM on Thursday, scorching sun and dry conditions dominated the atmosphere. Several cities including Jaipur, Pilani, Sikar, Udaipur, Bikaner, Churu, Nagaur, and Dungarpur recorded humidity levels below 10%, making the heat even more severe.
Health experts have advised residents to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activities during peak hours. “Drink water or electrolyte-rich fluids before stepping out,” recommended doctors, warning of heatstroke and dehydration risks.
May to Bring Respite From Heatwave
In its two-week forecast, the Jaipur Meteorological Centre suggests that heatwave conditions may subside in the first week of May. The forecast indicates increased thunderstorm activity from May 1 to 4, as easterly winds and multiple western disturbances are expected to influence the region.
These weather changes could stabilize temperatures, keeping the maximum readings closer to the seasonal average and offering much-needed relief for residents across the state.
