Moot Court Organized at Dr. Anushka Law College

Udaipur, March 28: Dr. S.S. Surana, the director of Dr. Anushka Law College, announced that a moot court was held today, March 28, 2026, for third-year LLB students. The event focused on a dowry death case.

The chief guest was Mr. Kuldeep Sharma, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority, Udaipur, along with special guests Mrs. Kamla Surana, Chairperson of the Anushka Memorial Educational Society, and Secretary Rajeev Surana. The event was presided over by Dr. S.S. Surana.

Dr. Surana emphasized that moot courts are a vital part of legal education, allowing students to familiarize themselves with court procedures. Practical experience in law is essential, and moot courts provide that opportunity. Today’s moot court was based on a fictional case titled “State vs. Manoj Kumar & Others.”

The First Information Report was filed at the Udaipur police station under Section 80 and Section 238 of the Indian Penal Code, 2023, and was presented to the court by the investigating officer. The prosecution was represented by Ashwin Kothari, while the defense was led by Kumari Varsha Dangi. Witnesses included Bheru Lal, Khemraj Meghwal, Gopal Singh, Seena Dangi, Deepanshu Vya, and Dhananjay Tripathi. The accused were portrayed by Sanjay Dangi, Kumari Usha Jain, and Mirza Mahmood Beg, with Surajmal Meena serving as the court clerk.

Male constable Naresh Meghwal and female constable Bhanwari, along with investigating officer Dhananjay Tripathi, played their respective roles. The court formulated two key questions regarding the case. The prosecution failed to prove Question 1 beyond a reasonable doubt, benefiting the accused, who were acquitted by the court. Judge Neeta Sompura delivered the verdict, acquitting the defendants. Mayuri Lohar conducted the proceedings.

During the event, Dr. S.S. Surana praised the participants for their roles and highlighted the importance of moot courts. Secretary Rajeev Surana congratulated all participants for their performances. Vice Principal Dr. Mohammad Haroon Chhipa noted that participating in moot court processes enhances students’ speaking skills and their ability to make quick decisions. As third-year LLB students will soon practice as lawyers, moot courts serve as an excellent platform for them. At the end of the program, Secretary Rajeev Surana expressed gratitude. The event was attended by Assistant Professors Dr. Ranjana Surana, Dr. Shyam Singh, Dr. Smith Vyas, Dr. Kriti Vyas, Pragya Khajanchi, and Manohar Khajanchi.
