Jaipur, April 22: Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has raised serious questions regarding the recent fire incident at the Pachpadra refinery. He dismissed the notion that this was a routine accident, asserting that such a fire in a new refinery is unusual and cannot rule out the possibility of sabotage or conspiracy. Gehlot has demanded a fair and thorough investigation into the matter, emphasizing the need to examine all aspects to uncover the truth.
Gehlot pointed out that the project was set to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, making this incident too significant to be taken lightly. He questioned the safety measures and protocols in place, noting that high-profile events typically have stringent security arrangements, yet such an incident still occurred, which is concerning.
Experts have indicated that such incidents are usually seen in older refineries. However, a fire in a new and advanced refinery could result from technical failures, negligence, or pressure to complete work hastily. Gehlot highlighted that international standards prioritize safety, making adherence to safety protocols mandatory before production begins.
He also expressed concerns about potential causes of the incident, including technical flaws, human error, and even sabotage. Gehlot urged the government to provide clear answers and establish accountability regarding the incident.
Additionally, Gehlot voiced his worries about the plight of farmers in the state, reiterating the need for debt relief. He stated that farmers are grappling with economic distress, and the government should reinstate previous debt waiver decisions. On the topic of women’s empowerment, he criticized the government for failing to appoint a chairperson for the Women’s Commission and for not fulfilling promises related to women’s reservations.
Gehlot also addressed the issue of corruption in the state, alleging that no work is being done without bribes and that corruption has permeated down to the village level. He insisted that the government must ensure accountability on these issues and operate with transparency.
