Bengaluru, May 27: Political activity has intensified regarding the potential resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Sources indicate that the Congress party may be preparing for a leadership change, with Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar being considered as the new chief minister. A crucial six-hour meeting took place in Delhi on Tuesday, attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, MP Rahul Gandhi, Siddaramaiah, and Shivakumar.

During the meeting, Rahul Gandhi reportedly urged Siddaramaiah to step down from his position. He also proposed sending Siddaramaiah to the Rajya Sabha and offering him a significant national role in Delhi. Following discussions with his supporters, Siddaramaiah has indicated that he would accept the high command’s decision.

According to media reports, Siddaramaiah has called for a special breakfast meeting with ministers on Thursday. Political circles speculate that he may resign from the chief minister’s post on the same day. However, the Congress party has yet to officially confirm any leadership change.

K.C. Venugopal, the Congress General Secretary present at the meeting, dismissed these speculations, stating that there is no truth to the rumors of a leadership change. He clarified that the discussions were solely focused on the upcoming Rajya Sabha and Legislative Council elections.

Despite this, discussions about a leadership change in Karnataka continue to gain momentum. All eyes are now on the Congress leadership’s next strategy.
