Political Buzz Surrounds Congress as Rajya Sabha Elections Approach

Jaipur, May 25: Political activity within the Congress party has intensified regarding the selection of a candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Rajasthan. Indications suggest that the Congress high command is seriously deliberating on candidate selection. In this context, Congress National Organization General Secretary K.C. Venugopal is expected to visit Jaipur and Ajmer from Delhi on May 25, Monday. According to party sources, he may discuss the selection of the Rajya Sabha candidate with senior leaders of the Rajasthan Congress during his visit.

Additionally, K.C. Venugopal is likely to participate in a ten-day training camp for district presidents of the Rajasthan and Delhi Congress at Pushkar Valley Resort. During this camp, strategic discussions regarding the Rajya Sabha elections are anticipated with key leaders, including Congress State In-Charge Sukhwinder Singh Randhawa, State President Govind Singh Dotasra, and Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie, all of whom are currently present at the Pushkar training camp.

Emphasis on Local Candidates
There is a growing demand within the political corridors of Rajasthan Congress to nominate a local leader for the Rajya Sabha elections. The party is emphasizing that only an active leader connected to Rajasthan’s politics should be sent to the Rajya Sabha. Sources indicate that the Congress high command may consider names from various communities, keeping social and political equations in mind.

Names of Congress leaders associated with the Rajput, Dalit, and Brahmin communities are currently under discussion. Prominent contenders include Congress National General Secretary Bhawer Jitendra Singh, sitting Rajya Sabha MP Neeraj Dangi, and National Spokesperson Pawan Khera. The political activity, organizational experience, and social equations of these leaders are being evaluated within the party.

Demand for Muslim Representation
A faction within the Congress is also advocating for a candidate from the Muslim community. Recently, Congress leaders connected to the Muslim community held a meeting in Jaipur under the hospitality of former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. The meeting addressed the long-standing issue of insufficient representation for the Muslim community in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.

During this meeting, a demand was made to the Congress high command to nominate a senior Congress leader from the Muslim community for the Rajya Sabha elections from Rajasthan. This demand has sparked increased political discussions within the party.

Political Activity Heightens Amid Pushkar Camp
The ongoing organizational training camp in Pushkar is now considered politically significant. The discussions surrounding the selection of a Rajya Sabha candidate have heightened the political importance of this camp. The Congress high command appears focused on strengthening organizational capabilities while navigating upcoming political equations.

All eyes are now on K.C. Venugopal’s potential visit and the high command’s forthcoming strategy, which could provide new direction to the future politics of the Rajasthan Congress.
