Jaipur, June 23: As the date for the municipal elections remains unannounced, the Congress party has ramped up its grassroots preparations in Jaipur. The party has launched a dialogue campaign targeting communities, senior citizens, labor groups, and informal workers. Their focus is on understanding local issues, ward-level problems, and the expectations of the general public.
Jaipur District Congress President Sunil Sharma is actively meeting with representatives from various communities through social dialogue programs. Each week, he engages with 70 to 80 representatives and seniors to gather their suggestions and concerns. So far, meetings have been held with senior members from approximately six communities, including Agarwal, Kumawat, Sindhi, and Nayak.
For the first time, Congress has initiated the ‘Ward Chowpal’ program. This initiative allows the party to directly engage with the public in different wards. To date, seven Ward Chowpals have been conducted, with the eighth taking place in Madarampura of the Sanganer assembly area.
Through these Chowpals, Congress aims to gain insights into local issues. Feedback is being collected on matters related to sanitation, roads, drinking water, sewage, street lighting, municipal services, and citizen amenities. The party plans to highlight these issues as key topics in the upcoming municipal elections.
Congress believes that local issues play a decisive role in municipal elections. Therefore, the party is not solely relying on social media or large political campaigns but is establishing direct contact with the public at the ward level. Regular dialogues are being held with social organizations, senior citizens, the business community, and ordinary citizens.
Additionally, Congress is conducting separate dialogue programs with informal workers and labor groups. The party aims to include the concerns of sanitation workers, daily wage laborers, small workers, street vendors, and others from the informal sector in its electoral agenda.
Sunil Sharma stated that the party is hosting social dialogue programs every week. Through the Chowpals, they are listening to the public’s issues. He emphasized that Congress is not just about listening to problems but also gathering suggestions for their solutions.
Sharma mentioned that continuous contact is being maintained with informal workers and labor groups. The goal is to incorporate the voices of all city demographics into the municipal election strategy. Understanding the real issues faced by the public is crucial for formulating a strong and effective electoral agenda.
In light of potential changes in ward structures and delimitation, Congress is paying special attention to social equations. The merging of two municipal corporations and the reduction of wards from 250 to 150 could alter political dynamics in several areas. Consequently, Congress is striving to understand new social and local equations at the ward level.
Political analysts believe that social networking, community engagement, and local issues will play a significant role in the Jaipur municipal elections. While the BJP is building a network of youth and educated individuals at the booth level, Congress is focused on strengthening its ground through dialogue with communities, senior citizens, and informal workers.
Currently, Congress’s strategy of Ward Chowpals and social dialogue clearly indicates that the party is preparing to contest the municipal elections based on local issues and the problems faced by the general public. This campaign may intensify in the coming days.
