Ajmer, August 23: Former Ajmer Municipal Corporation Mayor Dharmendra Gehlot, who recently resigned from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), has released a new video addressing the controversial case involving 13 files. In the approximately 6-minute and 16-second video, Gehlot questions how he can be held solely responsible when decisions were made at various administrative and institutional levels.
In the video, Gehlot also makes serious allegations against Rajasthan Assembly Speaker Vasudev Devnani. He references an older case, claiming to share related complaints and photographs, and demands that the truth be revealed to the public.
Gehlot stated that as a public representative, he wants to present the facts of the case to the people. He explained that upon learning he was deemed guilty, he resigned from the BJP to prevent any harm to the party’s reputation. He emphasized that he will not return to the BJP until he is completely exonerated from these charges.
Regarding the 13 files, Gehlot asserted that such documents related to building approvals do not come to the mayor for consent, and he has not signed any of the related papers. He mentioned that the files were canceled after a dispute between the then-commissioner and the deputy commissioner, and he had raised the concerns of traders and the public as a representative.
Gehlot referenced a decision made by an empowered committee formed by the government, which included officials from engineering, technical, and legal departments. He pointed out that the committee reached a unanimous decision, questioning how it is fair to hold him accountable without taking action against other involved officials.
He also raised concerns about the decisions made in the municipal general assembly, stating that after the government retained the files, the then-commissioner was instructed to present them in the assembly. According to him, both ruling and opposition councilors, along with administrative officials, were present, and the decision was made unanimously. He noted that some individuals now raising the issue were present at that meeting and did not register any objections at the time.
Gehlot remarked that despite seven years passing, the files remain unresolved, questioning how he can be deemed guilty when the final resolution has not been made. He accused Devnani of engaging in “pressure politics” behind the actions taken against him. He also mentioned BJP leaders Mahendra Jadam and district president Ramesh Soni, stating they are aware of the facts related to these files and should clarify the true situation to the public.
Additionally, Gehlot referred to an old case related to the education department during Devnani’s tenure as education minister from 2013 to 2018, highlighting the suicide of an employee named Dinesh Sharma in Kotputli.
