Jaipur Police Commissioner Meets Congress Leaders Amid Ongoing Protest

Jaipur, October 21: In the ongoing Ritu Barala case, Jaipur Police Commissioner Sachin Mittal visited Congress leaders who have been protesting at the police commissionerate. This meeting took place in Room 9, where Mittal engaged in discussions with state Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra and other leaders. The protest, which began on Monday evening, marks its third day today.

This meeting is significant as a Congress delegation had previously approached both the Director General of Police and the Police Commissioner’s residence on Tuesday, claiming that neither official was available to meet them.

Morning Visit by Additional Commissioner and DCP

Earlier on Wednesday, additional police commissioner Rameshwar Singh, along with DCP South Rajarshi Raj and additional DCP Lalit Kumar, met with Dotasra and other leaders in Room 9. During the discussions, Dotasra reiterated the demand for a zero FIR. Notably, Dotasra slipped and fell in the commissionerate premises earlier that morning, injuring his foot.

Protests Continue at Martyrs’ Memorial

Outside the commissionerate, Congress workers have also staged a protest at the Martyrs’ Memorial, chanting slogans against the police administration. Late Tuesday night, police used batons against protesting workers, resulting in injuries to several individuals.

The Jaipur police maintain that an FIR (291/2026) has already been registered at the Connaught Place police station in Delhi regarding this case, which includes Ritu Barala‘s complaint. Therefore, they argue that filing a separate FIR in Jaipur is not legally justified. The outcome of the discussions with the commissioner has yet to be disclosed.
