IPL 2025: BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit Flags Suspicious Activity; Players, Staff, and Families Advised to Stay Vigilant

As the IPL 2025 season continues to captivate fans with intense competition and high-octane matches, a serious concern has cast a shadow over the tournament. BCCI Alerts Players and Teams About Fixing Threat

According to a Cricbuzz report, the BCCI’s Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU) has alerted team owners, players, coaches, commentators, and support staff about suspicious behavior by a businessman with alleged ties to illegal betting networks. The individual in question has reportedly been attempting to befriend players and their families, disguising his intentions by posing as a cricket fan and influencer.

The ACSU has directed all IPL stakeholders to immediately report any contact or communication made by this person, emphasizing zero tolerance for corrupt activities in the league.

Businessman Accused of Offering Gifts, Access to Luxury Services

Sources close to the investigation revealed that the businessman has made repeated attempts to infiltrate team environments, often appearing in team hotels and match venues. His approach includes:

  • Inviting players and staff to private parties

  • Offering luxury gifts and shopping trips

  • Trying to connect with players’ families and relatives abroad through social media

  • Visiting jewellery stores and 5-star hotels with entourage members posing as fans

Such actions are seen as early-stage tactics used by bookies to build rapport before making corrupt offers. The BCCI has taken the matter seriously and continues to monitor all activities through its anti-corruption channels.

Tight Race in IPL 2025 Points Table

Despite the off-field concerns, IPL 2025 has been fiercely competitive. So far, 31 matches have been played in the ongoing season. The battle for playoff spots is heating up with five teams — Gujarat Titans, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Super Giants — all locked at 8 points.

On the flip side, Chennai Super Kings, one of the most successful IPL franchises, is struggling with just 2 wins from 7 matches, placing them at the bottom of the points table.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals, and Sunrisers Hyderabad have secured 4 points each, keeping the mid-table positions highly contested.
