Bihar Weather Alert (June 2025): The monsoon is now fully active across Bihar, bringing widespread rain and a welcome drop in temperatures. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), several parts of the state have already received showers, while a heavy rain alert has been issued for the coming hours across multiple districts.

With many areas experiencing a mix of rainfall and strong sunshine, temperatures had surged earlier this week — but more widespread rainfall is expected to provide relief from the heat in the coming days.
Heavy Rain Expected in the Next Few Hours
The IMD has warned of heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms across much of Bihar over the next 24 to 48 hours. Rain in parts of Patna on Thursday already led to localized waterlogging and a further drop in temperatures.
Due to the risk of lightning and gusty winds, the department has urged residents to exercise caution.
Heavy Rain Alert Issued for These 20 Districts
The following districts are currently under heavy rain and thunderstorm warning:
-
East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur
-
Shivhar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga
-
Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, Katihar
-
Saharsa, Madhepura, Samastipur
A yellow alert has been issued for Muzaffarpur, with light to moderate rain also expected in these and adjoining districts.
Next 6-Day Weather Forecast for Bihar
According to the IMD, monsoon conditions will remain active across Bihar for at least the next six days.
Districts under heavy rain and thunderstorm alerts in the coming days include:
-
Nawada, Gaya, West Champaran, Kaimur, Rohtas, Aurangabad
In these regions, an orange alert has been issued — with wind speeds of 40-50 km/h also expected.
Broader Monsoon Outlook
While Bihar is now seeing active monsoon conditions, other parts of South India and the Northeast have also been experiencing intense rainfall over the past several days. IMD forecasts suggest that the monsoon will continue to intensify and expand into more northern and western states in the coming weeks.
Final Word
With the monsoon now in full swing across Bihar, residents are advised to stay alert for potential localized flooding, strong winds, and lightning. It’s recommended to follow IMD updates and exercise caution during heavy downpours.
