Janjgir-Champa, May 3: A serious road accident occurred in Chhattisgarh‘s Janjgir-Champa district on Sunday. A passenger bus, traveling from Korba to Sarai Pali, suddenly lost control and overturned, creating chaos at the scene. Approximately 15 passengers sustained injuries, with some in critical condition.
The incident took place near the village of Karanoud in the Birra police station area around 8:30 AM. The bus, carrying over 50 passengers, included women, children, and the elderly.
Local residents rushed to the site immediately after the crash, initiating rescue efforts. To free trapped passengers, several windows had to be broken. Police and administrative teams arrived shortly after to expedite relief operations. With the help of bystanders, all injured individuals were rescued.
The injured were quickly taken to the nearby Birra health center and CHC Bamhni Dih for treatment. Among them, three individuals are reported to be in serious condition and have been referred to the district hospital in Janjgir for advanced care.
The bus driver fled the scene and is accused of negligent driving. Police are currently searching for the driver and have begun an investigation into the incident.
Preliminary assessments suggest that speeding and negligence may have been the primary causes of this accident. Meanwhile, the treatment of the injured continues, and authorities are monitoring the situation to ensure timely assistance for all.
