BHOPAL, April 13 The sweltering heat continues to grip Madhya Pradesh, with light rainfall offering temporary relief across parts of the state. On Saturday, over a dozen districts including Indore and Dhar witnessed showers, accompanied by hail in some regions. However, the INDIA Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a return to intense heat with a heatwave expected to begin from April 16.

Storms, Thunder and Rain Likely in 24 Districts Today
According to the IMD, unstable weather conditions will prevail across 24 districts today. These include Gwalior, Bhind, Morena, Datia, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Panna, Katni, Jabalpur, Satna, Maihar, Umaria, Mandla, Dindori, Balaghat, Anuppur, Shahdol, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, and Singrauli. Thunderstorms, gusty winds, and rainfall are expected due to the combined influence of three active systems: a Western Disturbance, a cyclonic circulation, and a trough.
Weather to Clear by April 15, Heatwave Onset from April 16
Meteorologists predict clearing skies across most parts of Madhya Pradesh by April 15. However, residents should brace for a significant rise in temperatures as a heatwave is likely to commence on April 16. Health authorities have advised precautionary measures against heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly and children.
Temperature Dips Slightly Amid Changing Weather
The recent rainfall has brought a slight drop in daytime temperatures across major cities. On Saturday, Bhopal recorded a maximum of 37.8°C, Indore 36.8°C, Gwalior 36.7°C, Ujjain 38°C, and Jabalpur 37.6°C. However, Khandwa emerged as the hottest location with 41.5°C. Other high-temperature zones included Khargone at 40.8°C, Tikamgarh at 39.5°C, and Shivpuri and Ratlam at 39.2°C.
The IMD continues to monitor weather systems closely and urges residents to stay updated on local forecasts and advisories.
