Udaipur, July 14, 2025 – In a shining example of rural transformation through skill development, Hindustan Zinc’s CSR initiative ‘Zinc Kaushal Kendras’ is now enabling youth from remote villages to secure job opportunities not just in India but abroad. Through targeted training and placement support, more than 8,600 rural youth — 45% of whom are women — have been trained across sectors like hospitality, retail, security, solar, and microfinance.

On the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, Hindustan Zinc reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment and skilling in its operational areas, especially in Rajasthan and Uttarakhand, where it runs seven specialized training centres across six districts.
Global Careers Rooted in Rural Beginnings
Deepika Devda, a resident of Dabok near Udaipur, started her journey in the hospitality sector through Zinc Kaushal Kendra, Udaipur. After gaining experience in local hotels, she now works with Marella Cruises in Spain, earning over ₹60,000 per month along with free accommodation and international exposure.
Lalit Jangid from a village near Ajmer enrolled in the Assistant Electrician course at Zinc Kaushal, Kayad. Beginning his career with Motherson Sumi in Bhiwadi, Lalit now works as a technician at Asterix Company in Saudi Arabia, earning ₹50,000 per month. His journey highlights how even the most remote youth can access global opportunities with the right skills and support system.
Transforming Rural Potential into Global Promise
Since its launch in 2019, Zinc Kaushal Kendras have trained over 7,250 candidates across various trades, connecting them to jobs and self-employment opportunities. The initiative has built a recruitment network of 500+ partners, including Tata Motors, SBI Cards, Zydus Hospitals, and Reliance Retail.
The program is not only inclusive, but also gender-sensitive and disability-friendly. Notably, India’s first all-women unarmed security batch from the program achieved 100% placement, reflecting the program’s effectiveness in women empowerment. It also promotes entrepreneurship, aligning with national goals such as Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Rajasthan.

Voices of Leadership
Arun Misra, CEO of Hindustan Zinc, expressed pride in the initiative’s success, stating,
“We are not just training individuals; we are shaping the future of rural India. Zinc Kaushal Kendras bridge aspiration with access. Seeing our youth build careers both domestically and internationally is deeply satisfying. Every global placement is a step toward a developed India — where no dream is too big, and no village too small.”

Operating as a catalyst for rural transformation, Zinc Kaushal Kendras provide access, opportunity, and mentorship to youth often excluded from formal employment systems. By fostering employability, entrepreneurship, and self-confidence, the initiative uplifts not just individuals but entire communities.

Through 2,000+ self-help groups, it empowered nearly 27,000 women, enabled 2 lakh students annually via education programs like Shiksha Sambal and Unchi Udaan, and supported 35,000+ farming families under its Samadhan initiative.
