Hyundai Inster Clinches 2025 World Electric Vehicle Award at World Car Awards

New York, April 17 Hyundai Motor Company’s smallest electric SUV, the Hyundai Inster, has been crowned the 2025 World Electric Vehicle of the Year at the prestigious World Car Awards, marking yet another global milestone for the South Korean automaker. This accolade underscores Hyundai’s growing dominance in the EV space, continuing a remarkable winning streak with its electric lineup.

This latest win represents Hyundai’s fourth consecutive year taking home a major category title at the World Car Awards. The Ioniq 5 N claimed the 2024 World Performance Car, while the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 swept multiple categories in 2022 and 2023.

Jose Munoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, said the Inster’s stylish design, practical dimensions, dynamic driving experience, and user-friendly technology were key to its global appeal. The recognition also reflects Hyundai’s commitment to innovation and sustainability across its global EV strategy.

Hyundai Inster: Compact Size, Impressive Range

The Hyundai Inster measures 3,825 mm in length, 1,610 mm in width, and 1,575 mm in height, making it a true micro electric SUV ideal for urban environments. Despite its compact size, it boasts a wheelbase of 2,580 mm and a 280-litre boot capacity. It offers headroom of up to 1,028 mm, with wheel options ranging from 15-inch to 17-inch.

Under the hood, or rather under the floor, are two battery pack options:

  • Standard variant: 42 kWh battery, 95 bhp power

  • Long-range (LR) variant: 49 kWh battery, 113 bhp power
    Both variants offer 147 Nm of torque and promise a driving range of up to 355 km on a single charge.

The Inster supports 120 kW DC fast charging, which charges the battery from 10% to 80% in just 30 minutes. An 11 kW onboard charger is included, with optional battery heating and heat pump systems for optimized efficiency.

The Hyundai Inster is not just about eco-friendly performance—it delivers on tech too. Inside, it sports dual 10.25-inch digital displays, one for infotainment and one for instrumentation. Other high-end features include:

  • 64-colour LED ambient lighting

  • One-touch electric sunroof

  • Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function to power external devices like e-bikes and camping gear
