The Hyundai Ioniq 9, the largest electric SUV from Hyundai, was unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. This marks the debut of the Ioniq 9 in India, following its global reveal. It is the fourth electric vehicle offering from Hyundai in India, after the Creta Electric. The Ioniq 9 is set to rival premium electric SUVs like the Kia EV9 and MG M9 in the Indian market.

Futuristic Design and Aerodynamics
Hyundai describes the Ioniq 9’s design as “Aerosthetic.” The front of the SUV features parametric pixel lamps, cube projection headlights, and an Intelligent Front-Lighting System (IFS) designed to reduce glare for oncoming traffic. At the rear, the vehicle has a boat-inspired design with vertical LED tail lamps positioned at the corners, giving it a bold and futuristic look.
Battery and Range
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 is powered by a 110.3 kWh battery pack, offering an impressive range of 620 km on a single charge. The SUV supports ultra-fast charging with a 350 kW charger, allowing the battery to go from 10% to 80% in just 24 minutes. It also includes advanced features like vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology and multi-charging compatibility with 400V/800V systems.
Power and Performance
Internationally, the Ioniq 9 is offered in three variants:
Long Range RWD: A single 160 kW motor powers the rear axle.
Performance AWD: Dual 160 kW motors deliver power ranging from 215 bhp to 492 bhp, enabling the SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 5.2 seconds.
Long Range AWD: A combination of a 160 kW rear motor and a 70 kW front motor enables it to achieve 0 to 100 kmph in 6.7 seconds.
The Long Range RWD variant, optimized for efficiency, completes the sprint in 9.4 seconds.
Platform and Competition
The Ioniq 9 is built on Hyundai’s Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), which also underpins the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6. This platform offers scalability, efficiency, and structural rigidity, making the Ioniq 9 a strong contender in the premium EV segment.
