Udaipur, March 18: The Rajasthan State Archives launched a four-day exhibition titled “Records of Mewar” on Tuesday, coinciding with Rajasthan Day. The event was inaugurated by Udaipur MLA Tarachand Jain at the Rajasthan Sahitya Akademi library. Esteemed historian Dr. Shrikrishna Jugnu, renowned architect Sunil Laddha, along with writers, researchers, and prominent citizens of the city, were present at the event.
While observing the exhibition, MLA Jain praised the glorious history of Mewar, stating that history is the foundation of our culture. He suggested establishing a permanent archive gallery in Udaipur to connect the public with the city’s rich past.
A seminar was also held during the event, where speakers highlighted the significance of Mewar’s history, culture, and records. Historian Shrikrishna Jugnu emphasized that history is our invaluable heritage, and preserving it ensures the continuity of our civilization, literature, and culture. He shared intriguing facts related to Mewar’s history, noting that the tradition of translation began in Mewar.
Architect Sunil Laddha remarked that history provides insights into our ancient grandeur, archaeology, and craftsmanship. He also announced the free preparation of the architectural plan for the newly allocated office building for the department in Udaipur.
Assistant Director Basant Singh Solanki mentioned that the exhibition showcases Mewar’s socio-economic status, income and expenditure records, rainfall statistics, copper plates, documents related to fairs, and more. The seminar was conducted by Rajat Kahaniwala. The event saw participation from Kundan Mali, Hemant Joshi, Sunil Tank, Sarita Jain, Ramdayal Mehr, along with staff from the office and academy, and a large number of citizens.
