Bengaluru, April 19 In a rain-affected 14-over clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Punjab Kings registered a clinical 5-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the latest fixture of IPL 2025. Punjab’s bowlers dominated the game, restricting RCB to a modest total before Nehal Wadhera’s calm and composed knock steered them to victory with 11 balls to spare.

Punjab Bowlers Shine in Shortened Match
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first, Punjab Kings showcased a stellar bowling performance. Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Harpreet Brar picked up two wickets each, while Xavier Bartlett chipped in with one. RCB struggled throughout the innings, managing only 95/9 in 14 overs. Tim David was the lone warrior for RCB, scoring a fighting half-century, but lacked support from the other end.
Nehal Wadhera Anchors the Chase
In what could have been a tricky chase on a challenging surface, Nehal Wadhera stood tall with an unbeaten 33 off 19 deliveries, guiding his team to 97/5 in 12.1 overs. While wickets fell around him, Wadhera’s confident strokeplay ensured Punjab didn’t falter in the chase.
Harpreet Brar Lauds Wadhera’s Composure
In the post-match press conference, Harpreet Brar praised Wadhera for handling the chase under pressure. “It wasn’t an easy pitch to bat on. Nehal made the chase look simple with his smart batting. He has been performing consistently over the past 2–3 years, even in domestic circuits. Today’s knock was truly commendable,” Brar said.
Captain Shreyas Iyer Hails Chahal as IPL’s Best Bowler
Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer also heaped praise on Yuzvendra Chahal, calling him the best bowler in IPL. “We didn’t know how the pitch would behave. But credit to our coaches and bowlers who adapted quickly. Chahal bowled brilliantly and took crucial wickets at the right time,” Iyer noted.
Rematch Set for April 20
Punjab Kings will face RCB once again in their next match on April 20 at the New PCA Stadium, New Chandigarh, in what promises to be an exciting rematch.
