Bhopal, February 9: Madhya Pradesh is experiencing an unexpected cold wave in February, with nighttime temperatures plunging across several districts. While the days remain relatively warm with mild sunshine, the nights have turned bitterly cold. For the first time in February, the mercury in the state has dropped below 5°C, with Shahdol’s Kalyanpur recording the lowest temperature at 4.5°C on Saturday night.
As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the impact of snowfall in North India has intensified the winter conditions in Madhya Pradesh. Over the past four days, the state has witnessed a significant dip in both day and night temperatures. Seventeen major cities, including Bhopal, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Umaria, Chhatarpur, Singrauli, Tikamgarh, Mandla, Raisen, Guna, Satna, Sidhi, Damoh, Rewa, and Narmadapuram, have recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C.

Gradual Rise in Temperature Expected
Weather experts predict a gradual rise in temperatures starting Sunday, with both day and night temperatures expected to increase by 3-4°C. By February 10, maximum temperatures are expected to rise significantly, bringing relief from the cold spell.
Daytime Temperatures See a Gradual Rise
Despite the cold nights, several cities recorded daytime temperatures exceeding 27°C, providing slight relief from the chill. Mandla and Ujjain recorded the highest temperatures, crossing 30°C. Other cities where the mercury stayed above 27°C include Bhopal, Betul, Dhar, Guna, Gwalior, Narmadapuram, Indore, Khargone, Ratlam, Shivpuri, Ujjain, Khajuraho, Mandla, Sagar, Seoni, Tikamgarh, Umaria, and Malajkhand.
