New Delhi, April 21, 2025 Maruti Suzuki has stirred curiosity in the automotive market by delisting the Grand Vitara CNG variants from its official Nexa website and brochure. However, in a twist, potential buyers can still book the CNG trims via the Nexa reservation page, sparking speculation around the future of this variant.

CNG Variants Missing from Website and Brochure
Currently, Delta MT CNG and Zeta MT CNG trims are no longer visible on the main variant listing or product brochure of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara. Yet, when accessing the Nexa website’s booking section, users can still spot these CNG options in the drop-down menu indicating online bookings are still being accepted, albeit discreetly.
MY2025 Grand Vitara Updates and CNG Omission
Earlier this month, Maruti Suzuki launched the MY2025 Grand Vitara with notable updates:
-
New 17-inch precision-cut alloy wheels
-
Six airbags as standard
-
Powered 8-way adjustable driver seat
-
Electronic Parking Brake (6-speed AT variants)
-
PM 2.5 Air Purifier display
-
LED cabin lighting & rear sunshades
-
New Delta+ Strong Hybrid variant
-
E20-compliant engine
Despite these enhancements, the CNG variant was left untouched. This has raised eyebrows about whether the brand is phasing out the current CNG variant to make way for an upgraded model or discontinuing it entirely due to low market demand.
Low Demand Could Be a Decisive Factor
Though petrol-CNG cars are in demand in India, they are primarily favored by fleet operators. Maruti Suzuki has seen success with models like Alto K10, Dzire, WagonR, Ertiga, and Swift in this space. However, the Grand Vitara CNG, positioned as a premium mid-size SUV, doesn’t align with the cost expectations of commercial buyers.
Additionally, the absence of a Tour (fleet-specific) variant further distances the Grand Vitara CNG from the fleet market, which is the primary CNG consumer base.
What Could Be Next?
-
Maruti may introduce an updated MY2025 CNG model with safety and tech upgrades.
-
Alternatively, the variant might be phased out due to limited sales and demand mismatch.
-
Official communication from Maruti Suzuki is still awaited to clarify the status.
Until then, consumers interested in the Grand Vitara CNG can still book the current MY2024 version, which offers dual airbags and does not benefit from the newer enhancements available in other variants.
