Agra, February 28: A notorious criminal, Pawan alias Kallu, has died following an encounter with the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Agra police. The incident occurred on February 27, 2026, in the Ekta police station area.
The joint team of the Noida unit of the STF and Agra police engaged in a significant operation, leading to Kallu’s injury and subsequent arrest. He was critically wounded during the encounter and was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, he could not be saved.
Pawan was identified as the son of Santaram and a resident of Sirouli, in the Loni area of Ghaziabad. He was wanted in a case of extortion registered at the Tajganj police station in Agra, with a bounty of ₹50,000 on his head. According to police reports, he was an active shooter in the notorious Randeep Bhati – Amit Kasana gang, which has been identified by the government.
Kallu faced over 18 criminal cases, including four for murder and two for extortion. In 2021, he was also placed under a ₹1 lakh bounty for a murder case and was arrested in Delhi, subsequently imprisoned.
During his time in prison, he connected with the infamous Himanshu Bhau gang from Haryana. After being released in 2025, he began demanding extortion on a large scale. Authorities suspect he was planning significant crimes in Delhi and western Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with this gang.
During the encounter, a substantial cache of ammunition and weapons was recovered from Kallu. Notably, a 9mm pistol found at the scene was stolen from Constable Monu Dhiman in 2016 in the Bisrakh area of Gautam Buddh Nagar, where a case was registered under IPC sections 279/337/392/427.
