SEOUL, April 25, 2025 — Samsung’s long-rumored affordable flip-style foldable, previously expected to launch as the Galaxy Z Flip FE (or Z Flip7 FE), might get a name change ahead of its anticipated debut. According to a fresh report, the device could arrive as the Galaxy Z Flip Xe, a shift that throws a curveball into expectations surrounding Samsung’s branding strategy.

Galaxy Z Flip Xe: A New Name for a New Strategy?
The “FE” (Fan Edition) branding has historically signaled budget-friendly versions of flagship Samsung devices. While many anticipated a Galaxy Z Flip FE to accompany the Galaxy Z Flip7 at Samsung’s upcoming Unpacked event in early July, insiders now suggest that the company may adopt the name Z Flip Xe instead.
Though Samsung has not confirmed the new naming convention, speculation points to a desire to reposition the foldable offering. The “Xe” name could be an effort to differentiate the model from the FE series and create a fresh identity for affordable foldables.
What We Know So Far
Rumors suggest the Galaxy Z Flip Xe (or FE) will be equipped with the Exynos 2400e chipset, a slightly trimmed version of Samsung’s premium SoC. Camera specifications are expected to include a 12MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide camera, and a 10MP front-facing shooter — similar to the Z Flip5, potentially offering updated internals in a familiar shell.
This foldable is expected to serve as an entry point for users interested in Samsung’s foldable ecosystem without shelling out for the flagship Z Flip7.
What’s in a Name?
Dropping the “FE” tag might allow Samsung to test a new market segment without the baggage of previous Fan Edition models, some of which were met with mixed reception. Still, “FE” branding is widely recognized and might have helped consumers identify the new device as a budget-friendly foldable.
If confirmed, the Galaxy Z Flip Xe would mark a subtle but significant shift in how Samsung markets its foldables — a space it continues to dominate globally.
