Storm and Rain Alert Issued in 22 Rajasthan Districts Today: Udaipur, Barmer Witness Weather Shift, Temperature Drops Below 30°C

Jaipur, May 7, 2025 Weather conditions in RAJASTHAN continue to fluctuate as the INDIA Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued storm and rainfall alerts for 22 districts, with Orange Alerts in 6 districts and Yellow Alerts in 15 others. The influence of a Western Disturbance persists, offering much-needed respite from the heat across several regions.

Storm and Rain Alert

Districts including Udaipur, Barmer, Jodhpur, Jalore, Sawai Madhopur, and Tonk witnessed scattered rainfall on Tuesday, while maximum temperatures dropped below 30°C in at least seven major cities, including Udaipur and Bhilwara.

Orange and Yellow Alerts in Place

According to the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, the following advisories have been issued:

  • Orange Alert: Storms with wind speeds of 40–70 km/h and moderate to heavy rainfall expected in 6 districts

  • Yellow Alert: Light rainfall and thunderstorms forecasted in 15 districts, with unstable weather continuing through May 10 in 30 districts statewide

These warnings reflect heightened risks of localized flooding, wind damage, and lightning, urging residents and authorities to remain vigilant.

Notable Rainfall and Temperature Dip

Rainfall was recorded as follows:

  • Udaipur: 15.2 mm

  • Barmer: 3 mm

  • Sikar: 1 mm

  • Light drizzle in several other areas

Tuesday’s overcast skies and intermittent showers led to below-average daytime temperatures, significantly easing heat conditions across the state.

  • Barmer & Jaisalmer: 36.4°C

  • Ganganagar: 36.2°C

  • Bikaner: 35.2°C

  • Churu: 35.7°C

  • Jaipur: 32.5°C

Below-30°C in Several Cities

The cool spell was especially prominent in parts of southern and western Rajasthan:

  • Jodhpur: 29.7°C

  • Udaipur: 29.0°C

  • Pratapgarh: 29.8°C

  • Sirohi: 27.2°C

  • Chittorgarh: 29.5°C

  • Bhilwara: 27.4°C

  • Mount Abu: 25.4°C

Rishabhdev in Udaipur reported half an hour of rainfall on Tuesday, contributing to a marked dip in daytime heat.

Outlook

The IMD has predicted continued rainfall and thunderstorm activity until May 10, urging farmers, commuters, and vulnerable communities to take necessary precautions. With temperatures remaining below normal in many areas, the state is currently enjoying a temporary relief from the summer heat and heatwaves.
