Udaipur, April 22 The Udaipur Transport Department has taken strict action against six business owners for illegally renting out two-wheeler vehicles to tourists without valid licenses. The enforcement comes after growing concerns over unregulated vehicle rentals operating under the guise of tourism services.

License Violations Lead to Seizures and Penalties
According to Regional Transport Officer Gyan Dev Vishwakarma, the crackdown was led by District Transport Officer Nitin Bohra. Transport inspectors conducted surprise inspections at various rental businesses in the Walled City area. The inspections revealed that several proprietors were operating rental services without obtaining licenses as mandated under the Rent-a-Bike Scheme.
As a result, six challans were issued, and three two-wheelers were seized on the spot. “Only 10 licenses have been officially issued under the Rent-a-Bike Scheme in Udaipur. However, several individuals are bypassing the legal process by obtaining permits without the required licenses and offering vehicles for rent to tourists,” Vishwakarma stated.
Business Owners Instructed to Halt Operations Immediately
DTO Nitin Bohra has issued strict orders to the violators, instructing them to cease operations immediately until they obtain the required licenses. He also directed flying squads stationed throughout the city to intensify checks on unlicensed and unauthorized rental operations.
“In cases where violations are found, vehicles will be immediately seized, and offenders will face legal action under the Motor Vehicles Act,” Bohra emphasized.
Department Urges Compliance for Tourist Safety
The transport department is urging all rental businesses to comply with regulations to ensure the safety of tourists and uphold the integrity of public transport services. The recent action underscores the city’s commitment to promoting responsible tourism while maintaining lawful operations in the transport sector.
