UDAIPUR, March 05, 2026 (Daily Udaipur): In the alleged objectionable video case linked to a BJP woman leader and some party leaders in the city and state, a major development took place on Wednesday as the Police Headquarters in Jaipur changed the investigating officer.

As per orders issued from Police Headquarters Jaipur, Girwa Deputy Gopal Chandel has been removed from the investigation. The responsibility has now been handed over to ASP Headquarters Udaipur, Gopal Swaroop Mewara.
The change in investigation officer is expected to increase difficulties for the alleged BJP leaders named in the video controversy as well as party workers accused of vandalising the house of advocate Vishal Gurjar, who was arrested in the case.
The case was registered on February 11 at 10:55 pm following a complaint by the BJP woman leader, alleging that objectionable videos were created using AI and that she was being blackmailed. Soon after the FIR, Deputy Gopal Chandel had arrested accused Vishal Gurjar in a swift action.
However, CCTV footage that surfaced later reportedly showed a person resembling Gogunda BJP leader Kishan Meghwal along with Deputy Gopal Chandel. Youths carrying crowbars and hammers were also seen moving around in the footage, raising questions over the police action.
Leader of Opposition Tikaram Julie raised serious concerns over the functioning of the police in the Assembly and demanded that Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma order an inquiry and ensure strict action in the matter.
Following these developments, the state government acted by replacing the investigating officer, indicating the possibility of further action in the case.
