Mumbai, April 22: A political storm has erupted following Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s controversial remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has filed a formal complaint with the Election Commission, deeming the matter serious. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju stated that strict action should be taken against Kharge, urging Congress to apologize to the people of the country.
Rijiju claimed that the Election Commission has acknowledged the BJP’s complaint and assured appropriate action. He emphasized that referring to the Prime Minister as a “terrorist” is unacceptable in democratic politics. According to Rijiju, under Modi’s leadership, the country is engaged in a decisive battle against terrorism, making such statements unfortunate. He added that the public will hold Congress accountable for its remarks.
In light of the escalating controversy, Kharge has clarified his statement. He asserted that he did not intend to label Modi personally as a terrorist. Instead, he suggested that the Prime Minister is using fear tactics against people and political parties. Kharge clarified that his intent was to highlight Modi’s tendency to threaten and exert pressure on the opposition through central agencies.
As accusations fly between the BJP and Congress, political analysts believe that such statements could further polarize the electoral atmosphere. All eyes are now on the potential actions of the Election Commission.
