Political Turmoil Resurfaces Over Manesar Incident in Rajasthan

Jaipur, April 28: Political tensions in Rajasthan have intensified once again regarding the Manesar incident. Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot‘s recent comments have prompted a sharp response from Union Minister of State for Arts, Culture, and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat. Shekhawat accused Gehlot, stating that he was the creator, storyteller, director, and the one who concluded the entire drama surrounding the Manesar events.

Gajendra Singh Shekhawat reiterated his stance, saying, “I have stated before and I say again that Ashok Gehlot was the director of that entire drama. Sachin Pilot was merely a pawn in this scenario. Even now, that pawn is being used to attempt to end his political exile.”

On Monday, Ashok Gehlot spoke to the media, asserting that “Sachin Pilot has both his legs in Congress and will remain there.” He further remarked that Pilot has now realized the consequences of making such mistakes and has learned to be cautious. Following Gehlot’s remarks, discussions in political circles have surged. Analysts interpret this as a message of unity within Congress, while others view it as a reminder of the 2020 Manesar events.

The allegations of a conspiracy to topple the government have also resurfaced. Notably, during the rebellion led by Sachin Pilot‘s faction in 2020, Ashok Gehlot and his supporters accused Gajendra Singh Shekhawat of attempting to bribe Congress legislators and plotting to bring down the government. At that time, some alleged audio recordings were made public, claiming to feature Shekhawat’s voice. Subsequently, Shekhawat filed a case with the Delhi Crime Branch against Gehlot’s then-O.S.D. Lokesh Sharma and several police officials, alleging phone tapping. This case remains under investigation and legal proceedings.

After the change of power in the state, former O.S.D. Lokesh Sharma has also made statements against Gehlot, claiming in a statement to the Delhi Crime Branch that the alleged audio tapes were provided to him by Ashok Gehlot himself. The recent statements regarding the Manesar incident have reopened old wounds in Rajasthan’s politics. In the coming days, an increase in political confrontations between Congress and BJP is anticipated.
