BJPs Satish Poonia Criticizes Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi Over Paper Leak Issues

New Delhi, July 30: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Satish Poonia has launched a sharp attack on Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra regarding issues of paper leaks and crimes against women. He questioned why Rahul Gandhi did not protest against the then Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot during the paper leak incidents that occurred under the Congress government in Rajasthan.

Poonia made these remarks during a media interaction outside Parliament on Wednesday. His statement comes amid a heated political debate between the ruling party and the opposition over a bill related to paper leaks and alleged police action against protesting students. Rahul Gandhi had raised questions in the Lok Sabha regarding the government’s actions against students.

Poonia raised concerns about the Gehlot government’s tenure, stating that several recruitment exams in Rajasthan faced paper leaks, causing significant harm to the youth. He claimed that some young individuals even resorted to suicide due to despair, yet Rahul Gandhi did not lead any major movement against the Gehlot administration at that time.

He stated, “When 17 paper leaks occurred in Rajasthan and children committed suicide, why didn’t Rahul Gandhi sit on a protest against Ashok Gehlot? Why wasn’t he removed from his position?”

This accusation from the BJP leader is political in nature. The number of paper leak incidents and associated suicides can only be determined based on various cases and official investigations.

Poonia also responded to Priyanka Gandhi’s slogan “I am a girl, I can fight” from the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, questioning her stance on crimes against women in Rajasthan. He claimed that an average of 17 rape incidents occurred daily during the Gehlot government, yet Priyanka Gandhi did not protest against the government in the state. This figure is a political claim by Poonia and should not be considered an established fact without independent interpretation of official crime statistics.

Poonia emphasized that the public is observing the political behavior of Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

In support of Union Minister Prahlad Joshi, Poonia opposed comments made by Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi. He noted that while the Gandhi siblings inherited their political positions, Prahlad Joshi earned his place through years of political struggle, hard work, and organizational efforts.

Poonia asserted that Joshi has proven himself as a Member of Parliament and a Union Minister. He accused Congress leaders of attempting to divert parliamentary discussions from the main issues through personal remarks.

Priyanka Gandhi had accused Joshi in the Lok Sabha of supporting the release of the convicts in the Bilkis Bano case. The ruling party opposed this accusation and demanded evidence. Some controversial remarks were later removed from the Lok Sabha proceedings.

Poonia criticized the Congress’s parliamentary strategy, stating that the party and its leaders need better training to fulfill their role as an effective opposition. He mentioned that the opposition’s responsibility in a democracy is to alert the government, raise public interest issues, and engage in meaningful debates on policy shortcomings.

He alleged that opposition parties initially distanced themselves from parliamentary proceedings and, when they participated, attempted to divert discussions away from substantive issues.

Poonia concluded by stating that the public understands the opposition’s behavior, and such politics will not yield any political benefit for Congress.
