AAP Protests Against E20 Fuel Policy, Kejriwal and Leaders Stopped by Police

New Delhi, August 4: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by its national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal organized a march towards the Prime Minister’s residence to protest against the E20 fuel policy. However, Delhi police halted Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Jasmine Shah, and other party leaders on Feroz Shah Road.

After being denied permission to proceed, Kejriwal and the AAP leaders sat down on the road in protest. The party claims that around 100 leaders and activists participated in the march.

Petitions to be Submitted to the Prime Minister
AAP asserted that they collected over 230,000 petitions and letters from across the country opposing E20 fuel. The party leaders intended to present these to the Prime Minister.

During the march, Kejriwal stated that more than 200,000 individuals have written letters to the Prime Minister regarding their opposition to E20 fuel. He emphasized that the party representatives wanted to deliver these letters directly, but the police prevented them from moving forward.

Claim of Sending Letters Through Police
Kejriwal mentioned that after the police obstructed the march, all letters were handed over to police officials to ensure they reach the Prime Minister. He also noted that a request for a meeting with the Prime Minister was sent, expressing hope for a discussion on this issue with an AAP delegation.

Protest on Feroz Shah Road
Following the march’s interruption, AAP leaders and activists staged a sit-in on Feroz Shah Road, chanting slogans against the central government. The party demanded a reconsideration of the E20 fuel policy and urged the government to listen to citizens’ concerns.

AAP has accused the E20 fuel policy of imposing an additional financial burden on vehicle owners. However, clarity on the situation is expected once the central government and the Ministry of Petroleum provide a detailed response.

What is E20 Fuel?
E20 is a type of petrol that consists of a mixture of 20% ethanol and 80% petrol. The central government is promoting it as a means to reduce fuel import dependency and achieve environmental goals.

The Aam Aadmi Party has raised concerns about the potential impact of this policy on vehicle performance, mileage, and maintenance costs. The party has urged the Prime Minister to consider public objections regarding this matter.
